Aran Dadswell is a mental fitness coach, speaker and founder who is endlessly curious about what it means to be human and how we might do it better.
A proud Kiwi, she has lived on four continents and worked with people from over seventy nationalities. (She keeps a list.) Her fascination with human behavior, connection and the wonderfully messy ways we navigate life has only deepened over time.
After nearly two decades in corporate roles focused on software testing and quality management, Aran shifted her attention from processes and tools to people. She holds a master of science degree in Studies in Mindfulness, a diploma in Learning and Development, and is a Master Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.
She is the creator of World Mental Fitness Day, observed annually on April 10, and she’s already imagining how it might be celebrated decades from now and plans to still be going strong when it is.
Aran is open about the fact that her journey has been anything but linear. There have been failures, false starts, and more than a few questionable decisions along the way. What she has come to understand is that mental fitness isn’t about getting it right all the time. It’s about being better, not best.
She wrote this book as the resource she wishes she had years ago and as an invitation for you to explore how to navigate your journey. Aran shares her life with her teenagers and her furry babies. The former are busy being fun, interesting, clever and very, very cool. She’s hoping they’ll visit frequently when she’s a little old lady residing with her live-in robot, Robert Otway (“Rob Ot” for short), who will be performing all the household chores and providing daily shoulder massages. In the meantime, she continues to explore life as a work in progress—imperfect, evolving and perpetually wonky.
