How To Find Hope in A Cancer Diagnosis
Project Info:
After Linda Kopec’s second bout with cancer, she knew she wanted to share her story with other cancer patients and their caregivers, to provide them with encouragement and hope. But she had no idea how to go about getting started. She wasn’t a writer and had never anticipated becoming one.
Yet, one day, as she was sharing these thoughts with a long-time friend of hers over a pancake breakfast at a local church, the first question he asked was, “Do you have a publisher?” When she replied that she did not, the gentleman grabbed the nearest clean napkin and wrote down Tara’s name, email address and phone number.
When Linda gathered the courage to call Tara a few days later, it was fun to hear the story of how Tara’s 8th-grade science teacher (a dear friend to this day) and Linda had known one another since they were kids growing up in the same town. The world is often much smaller than it sometimes seems…
And thus began Linda and Tara’s relationship, as Tara guided Linda through the process of writing her book, then ultimately publishing it for her.
We hope that you are as inspired by Linda’s story as we were by helping her tell it.

Readers’ Favorite, 5-Star Review
Linda Kopec has given everyone who has ever been affected by cancer a true gift of love in her book Cancer Gifts: Lessons in Gratitude, Acceptance and Perseverance. Linda invites her readers on a journey of hope and inspiration. Cancer does not just affect the patient but also has far-reaching consequences affecting family, friends, and others. This book is not only inspirational and encouraging for the patient, but Linda has a knack for encouraging the family, caregivers, and all who are connected in one way or another to the patient. The suggestions along the way, the “Ringing the Bell” sections, and the experiences she shares give (as she puts it) “hope among the fear and beauty among the ashes.” Linda shows how to thrive in the battle as well as after the cancer is gone.
What do you look for in a good guide? If you are like most people, you want someone to guide you who has been down the path before. Linda Kopec knows what she writes about in Cancer Gifts: Lessons in Gratitude, Acceptance and Perseverance. Linda survived cancer not once but twice. She had colon cancer and then, after beating the odds, she came up against breast cancer. Her writing is moving and motivating. She shares her heart. She shares her concern and compassion. She was blessed to have the loving support of her husband, two daughters, family, friends, and a supportive medical team. Linda knows everyone is not that blessed and gives ideas on how to find support. She has incorporated articles from different doctors and support persons to encourage and enlighten the reader. This book is a must-read and a real page-turner.
