Book Description: Recent studies estimate that more than 75% of current nonprofit executives plan to leave their positions in the next five to ten years. What will you do when you need to recruit a new executive for your nonprofit’s leadership team?

Hiring and onboarding a CEO is one of the most important (and challenging) actions a board will ever undertake. Choosing a poor match will require you to repeat the search within a year, at best. At worst, it can have devastating consequences for your organization’s mission.

Recruit your next CEO knowing that you have identified an individual whose core leadership competencies and values align with your strategic vision and mission.
Dennis C. Miller is a nationally recognized strategic leadership coach and executive search consultant with more than thirty-five years of experience working with nonprofit board leadership and chief executives.

In “A Guide to Recruiting Your Next CEO,” Dennis provides a handbook that can be used by any nonprofit board to guide their executive search efforts and feel confident that the outcome will be a positive one for their organization.

If you’re preparing for your own CEO search, I invite you to download my “Final Candidate Evaluation Matrix.” It will help you objectively evaluate the suitability of candidates as you grow nearer to making your final hiring decision. You can request your copy at thenonprofitsearch.com/candidatescore.

You may also want to download the “Reference Checking Matrix” as well from thenonprofitsearch.com/references to capture your thoughts and impressions while checking a candidate’s references.

Both of these templates are my gift to you, whether you purchase this book or not.

Project Info:

Dennis Miller is good friends with another author of ours, Cheryl Marks Young. As Cheryl was relaying her experiences in working with us, Dennis noticed that they were nothing like his experience in working with another publisher on his first four books. The support we were giving Cheryl during her book launch, the education we provided, the direction we gave her even after her launch, were all things that were foreign to him.

As he described it to us, he said it was like having a baby. After each book came out, he kept saying he was never going to go that route again, but silly him, soon after, he’d be back in the exact same place with the exact same partner.

Watching the success that Cheryl has achieved since her book came out a few short months ago led him to want to talk with us. He had a new book in the works and was curious whether this time might be a different experience for him.

And we’re glad that he did!

Dennis has been a pleasure to work with and, while this book is definitely a niche topic, we anticipate being able to help him achieve great things with it. So, stay tuned!
